A DAY IN THE LIFE OF DOCTOR AND MISS SOUTH AFRICA’S MORATWE MASIMA

We open up to dreaming bigger and to holidays with a day in the life of medical doctor and Miss South Africa runner up Moratwe Masima.

When you have a medical emergency in Jozi, there’s a fair chance you’ll end up in the learned, caring hands of Charlotte Maxeke emergency doctor Moratwe Masima. Although, she’d much rather meet you happy and healthy outside the ER.

We spend the day with the queen who’s juggling her medical duties, Miss South Africa runner-up duties and her YouTube channel to get a glimpse of how she does it all.

Q&A WITH MORATWE

What does ‘living better’ mean to you?

Living better means being healthy and living life to the fullest. I aspire to live better by being a better version of myself than I was yesterday.

What legacy would you like to leave behind?

A legacy of kindness and tenacity. These are my core values that have made me who I am and I think that they are valuable nuggets of wisdom to impart on to the youth of South Africa.

What piece of advice would you like to share with South Africa?

I would like to spread a message of hope and resilience to the people of South Africa. In this tumultuous time of the Covid 19 pandemic it is imperative that people learn to come together to overcome and deal with our shared problems that we are all currently facing.

Where do you go to escape and connect with yourself?

I love to spend time outdoors. For me this includes going hiking, going to the beach whenever I have a break or just going out for my morning coffee. That’s really where I go to meditate on what I need to and center myself

Have any encouraging words for us to end off on?

“Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway.” I wouldn’t be who I am today if I didn’t overcome the fears and doubts I had of myself.
