Self-taught Interior Decorator, Elize Beltrame, opens her East London home and shares how a host of modern comforts simplify her life and work.

When renovating an old East London house on The Nahoon River into a home for her family, Elize Beltrame brought years of experience from working in six star safari lodges, along with a wealth of insight on design as a practical art to create and serve the comfortable, modern lifestyle you want to live.

Elize tells us, “My time spent working in hospitality in the Okavango taught me a lot about creating welcoming environments and my style is very much about modern comfort. I like a contemporary look but with an African chic aesthetic.” From the entrance to her home and as you move through the living area, her passion for uncluttered spaces , varieties of textures and simple and clever organisation is clear – as is her technique to create distinct spaces in each area that still tell the same overall story. It is this style that has resulted in her career as a decorator growing fast.

From guest houses to lodges, Elize’s business is on-site by nature and it has to function ‘on-the-go’.  She explains, “I am not a person that likes to go shopping, or go to malls and certainly not into banks. There are too many peple. It is too hot. So, I recently heard that it is possible to open a Capitec account from home, which is pretty amazing. I need a simple easy to use banking app that I can use for my business and my personal use.”

Elize downloaded the Capitec app from her app store and started the simple process to open an account by simply entering her ID number and taking a selfie. Once signed up, she added, “That’s amazing. I did not have to leave the comfort of my home, or stand in a queue at the bank and I have opened an account. And my card is going to be delivered, which is pretty amazing service.”

With the business end taken care of, Elize shares more about her home and all the spaces,as well as, her other passions from using local artwork from local artists in her design, to her passion for the views, nature and the Eastern Cape. Then finally, there is no better way to appreciate all the modern comforts used on the canvas of her home, than by inviting and sharing the space with friends and family enjoying all the elements together as one.
