Self-taught Interior Decorator, Elize Beltrame, opens her East London home and shares how a host of modern comforts simplify her life and work.
When renovating an old East London house on The Nahoon River into a home for her family, Elize Beltrame brought years of experience from working in six star safari lodges, along with a wealth of insight on design as a practical art to create and serve the comfortable, modern lifestyle you want to live.
Elize tells us, “My time spent working in hospitality in the Okavango taught me a lot about creating welcoming environments and my style is very much about modern comfort. I like a contemporary look but with an African chic aesthetic.” From the entrance to her home and as you move through the living area, her passion for uncluttered spaces , varieties of textures and simple and clever organisation is clear – as is her technique to create distinct spaces in each area that still tell the same overall story. It is this style that has resulted in her career as a decorator growing fast.
