Andrew Matela is a Business Process Engineer at Capitec and proud Joburg boy who enjoys spending time outdoors with his kids and mountain biking.

He shares that a typical day for him consists of preparing the kids for school, doing the school run and then returning home to start working.

“My role within the company is to ensure that we have the best customer experience for our banking customers.,” explains Andrew before adding, “I love Capitec because as a company they try to put the customer at the centre of everything that they try to innovate, be it savings plans or whatever they do, they always put the customer first.”

When Capitec introduced their Live Better savings account with various automated features Andrew leaped at setting it to work to his benefit.

“I activated my Live Better savings account as soon as it was introduced. I just popped it up on my app, it was pretty easy to activate and I was quickly up and running. I have selected the Roundup option which is where Capitec automatically rounds up each purchase to the nearest R2, R5 or R10 and pays the difference into your account – so you save whenever you shop.”

He adds, “Interest Sweep is the other option that’s pretty cool. Activate this and Capitec will  automatically transfer all the interest you earn in your main transactional savings account into your Live Better savings account, to earn even higher interest.”

Everyone likes to save, but it’s not the easiest thing to do. So being assisted to save subconsciously makes it easy for everyone to save with ease – making the Live Better savings account is a great option.

“It’s a great idea to save for getaways and activities because we’ve been in a whole lot the past two years, so every opportunity we have to getaway, we take.”

Awesome days come from having funds available and the best return on his working hours and savings goals is a day of quality time out with his wife and children, and that’s exactly what Andrew opted for when he treated the kids to a fun day in the sun at the beach within reach, Wild Waters Boksburg.

“What I like about this activity is that the kids get to enjoy themselves, get out (which doesn’t happen as often as it used to), and wifey and I get to relax too – which always helps,” shares the dad of two.

Andrew Matela shares that his next savings goal includes ideally going on a longer vacation and potentially even a PlayStation 5.
