WE MEET THE QUEEN OF SCRUMPTIOUS TREATS, CHEF SASSY FROM SASSY BAKES

Chef Sumi Engelbrecht followed her passion and turned a career in the food industry into her own baked goods business that’s now taking Mzansi by storm.

Chef Sassy made her start in the food business about 17 years ago. She was eventually inspired to follow her passion and start her Sassy Bakes and now creates delicious colourful baked goods that have become the life of many parties.

“Cake has always been more soothing for me, because I really get to showcase my creativity. It’s very delicate and takes a lot of time, but I love what I do,” shares Sassy.

What started out as a hobby has turned into a very lucrative business for the inspiring entrepreneur, who runs her business from home and is empowering others as her journey expands.

“We converted what used to be my garage into the Sassy Studio, and we’re booked for the next two months. That’s how hectic it is right now, and that’s amazing,” she says.
