In the ongoing battle against gender based violence, two real-life wonder women have taken matters into their own hands. To raise funds in this greater fight, singer/ songwriter Tasché Burger and actress Angelique Gerber agreed to go toe-to-toe… in the boxing ring.
The franchise, which brought this new world of celebrity boxing to both a national and international fan base in early 2021, is growing fast and saw the two ladies take part in the first-ever celeb female fight.
Angelique and Tasché underwent rigorous training to prepare themselves for the showdown – all in the name of raising funds to protect women, children and men from abuse. It’s the best workout too.
Come fight night, the A-list of Afrikaans rock – Francois van Coke, Early B, Rubber Duc, Kurt Darren, Sunset Sweatshop, Synch Peter, Brendan Peyper and Posduif – were there to play their part in the greater cause.
In this ‘showdown of the year’, the fight seesawed throughout, right up to the bell at the end of the final round.
Angelique took it on points but with the quarter of a million Rand split between the fighters’ two charities, they’re both champions.
