Discover luxury and one-of-a-kind creations with fashion designer Orapeleng Modutle.

Raised in Kimberly, Designer Orapeleng Modutle was first introduced to world of fabric by his mother who was a seamstress.

While in his matric year, Orapeleng was unsure which career path to pursue.

He soon realised that he wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry and enrolled at the Tshwane University of Technology, where he completed his diploma in Fashion Design.

During his studies, he got the opportunity to intern at Nkhensani Nkosi’s brand, Stoned Cherrie, after which, he started his own company.

“He had this willingness to learn and for me, that is a major skill and one of those things that determines success and how far you will go,” says Nkhensani.

Today, he is considered one of South Africa’s top names in fashion, with his company OM Style Avenue.

Based in Pretoria, OM Style Avenue is a brand that specialises in customised special occasion dresses.

“The building blocks of the Orapeleng Modutle couture is that we try and get the right kind of connection with our client, and we make sure that we understand the brief that she has,” explains Orapeleng.

For OM Style Avenue, the brand favours romantic and luxurious fabrics, like silk and chiffon.

“Every dress is always a journey,” explains Harry Lenkwane, Assistant Designer at OM Style Avenue, “from the beading, from the fabric, from the pattern, we have to make sure that it is done accurately.”

Their designs are detail oriented.

“Our focus as a brand is that we like to finish off with our signature beading in each and every piece that we do and sourcing the right type of laces,” explains Orapeleng, “so that when it mixes with the beading, it can be able to connect and make a story.”
