STEP INSIDE THIS LUXURY LANGEBAAN VILLA WITH VIEWS FOR DAYS

Building their dream home together makes a couple’s marriage stronger than ever.

As the lyric of a famous song goes, ‘that was the river – this is the sea’ and for Johannes and Adri van Niekerk, it’s the story of their journey here. From thirty one years of living on the Orange River in Kakamas, Northern Cape to planning and building their dream home here in Langebaan – down to the very last detail.

“We’ve been coming here all our life because our families have beach houses here. In the early years me and my wife loved water skiing as well, and Langebaan Lagoon is perfect for that. We fell in love with the place and decided we needed to build a place as well for us to come and relax,” shares Johannes van Niekerk, Homeowner

As the name suggests, The View has been designed to embrace its beautiful surroundings. The large patio provides uninterrupted views of the Langebaan Lagoon and all five bedrooms have an ocean view, designed for guests to wake up to breathtaking views and the smell of the ocean.

Johannes shares that this favourite spot in the house is the living area as it’s close to the pool, the kitchen, the braai and ultimately is at the heart of the home.

A more unique characteristic perhaps is the heated pool, also with a view, that can be changed to suite your mood or the occasion.

The house stands at over 20 metres, and the pool is 13 metres in the air so they certainly had their challenges with the build. It’s also been built entirely of concrete to ensure that the wind doesn’t affect the structures.

Wife and fellow home owner, Adri van Niekerk, took on the role of interior decorator thanks to her passion for it.

To achieve that meant building on columns to bring the house forward on this forty five degree slope. While they spent months deciding on the interior wall colour, once they did, everything just seemed to fit.

The décor was to be Adri’s field. Turning to Pinterest for ideas and wanting to support local manufacturers, she found a wealth of homegrown talent available to assist.

Drawing on inspiration from the beautiful lagoon, she introduced blues and natural earthy tones through.

“When Johannes told me his part was done, and it was now my turn. I was very, very scared of this very big task because I really did not know how I would be able to do this. In the end, it was a success, and I know now that when you trust yourself and your instincts, you can pretty much do anything,” shares Adri.

Bringing variation to the overall modern contemporary theme, some rooms have distinct art deco touches to them.

Whichever room you’re in, no one is short-changed on the magnificent vistas.

Making sure you can enjoy the sights of the lagoon, with a cocktail to hand, while in your heated pool, in the middle of Winter….Now that’s attention to detail.
