The Insider SA travels to the farmhouse of Hilde Alet Malan to see how mother nature inspires her beautiful creations.
Hilde Alet Malan was born and raised on a small farm in Patensie, in the Eastern Cape, where she had the pleasure of experiencing mother nature daily. The beautiful surroundings inspired her deep appreciation for art from a very young age but it was only at the age of 31, as the demand for her creations continued to rise, that she finally decided to pursue her passion full time.
Drawing on inspiration from the world around her, Hilde shares that her simplistic yet detailed work is influenced by everything from traveling with family, to walks with her dogs on the farm.
One of her favourite subjects to capture is the essence of the protea, for its elegance and strength. She’s also inspired by people and enjoys reflecting that in her work.
Be it drawing or painting, she is constantly creating and developing her intentionally unique style that has not only helped her establish her individuality but drives her to become a true master of her craft.
