SCHANÉ ANDERSON CREATES EXCITING SPACES WITH OLALA INTERIORS
Schané Anderson and her team at Olala Interiors have designed vibrant, exciting spaces throughout South Africa to life – developing interior design with flair.
Olala might be what one can exclaim when visiting a scenic sight or a tastefully appointed home, but for Schané Anderson and the team at Olala Interiors, the term has come to better reflect a vision to turn humble spaces into beautiful pockets of design and tranquillity that reflect their host and purpose.
Having collaborated closely with leading architects, developers and high nett worth individuals to develop the interior feel of high-end residential properties. Today, Olala Interiors focuses on four key areas – namely, Design, Retail, Manufacturing, and, imminently, new e-commerce spaces.
For founder and CEO Schané Anderson, a stellar career in interior design which has seen her firm’s work covered across multiple publications, and has seen her team become the recipients of numerous awards, had humble beginnings.
“My passion for interior design was quite accidental,” says Schané . “I have always been creative and artistic, but I used to work for a large corporation where I had to put offices together. I drew out the office design and layouts, and I had to employ an interior designer to carry out the projects. He liked my drawings, and he employed me – and that’s how my career in interior design started!”
From the beginnings of her career, Schané used her drive and ambition to begin Olala Interiors – but since then, the business has grown to further heights. “The story of Olala started in 1993 in a little shop in Cresta Centre in Blackheath, Johannesburg. That’s where we started making homes beautiful for our lovely clients who appreciate the finer things in life”, says Schané .
Speaking on the growth of her business, Schané elaborates that “It became very clear and very early on, that this is not the kind of job you can do on your own – you really do need people to help”. Fast forward to today, and Schané is joined by her own professional team to execute articulate designs across a variety of spaces.
Schané ’s career has also reached new heights, having been elected as one of the Top 3 candidates running for the Regional Business Woman of the Year by the Small Business Award, and she has also sat on the Board of the IID as the KZN Regional Representative.
Olala Interiors has since become the recipient of 4 international awards, including the coveted 5 Star Best Interior Design Private Residence Award – South Africa from the International Property Awards, and was also nominated for Best In Africa. Throughout South Africa, Olala Interiors continues to pioneer bold and exciting new spaces – including among them the home of Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira.
Working alongside architects and approaching each exciting new space with a blank canvas, Olala Interiors approaches design with integrated management of both furniture, fittings, layout, design, and manufacturing – meaning that every new environment becomes a personal statement befitting of its owner.
