‘I’m very interested in primitive blacksmithing, African iron work and bronze age stuff. The transition from stone to bronze, and then bronze to iron results in a beautiful relationship between the forms that’s kind of very, very sculptural. We recognise that language as being the rules that we have for beauty,” shares the artist.
Conrad reveals that he finds blacksmithing and toolmaking is a very deep, human, intuitive practice. Never worried about the next stage, Conrad trusts the work to keep creating more and ever evolving lines of art for him. Even greater things lie in store.
