OPEN UP TO A FRESH TAKE WITH ACTOR LINDA MTOBA’S NEW GLAM MAG COVER SHOOT, SHOT ON A PHONE!

We went behind the scenes of Glamour Magazine’s new cover shoot with Linda Mtoba, photographed entirely on the new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Actress, content curator and brand ambassador, Linda Mtoba thrives on fresh challenges. The latest, was being part of a magazine cover shoot, where Ms. Mtoba was about to take full advantage of the power she holds in her hand – the new Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.

“I’m so excited to be an official brand partner for Samsung. Today, we will be shooting the whole thing using a Galaxy S22 Ultra,” explains Linda.

Fashion photographer, Niquita Bento, took the lead on capturing the moments and got to experience first hand just how professional the device’s technology has become. Typically, Niquita shoots with a professional DSLR camera but she was up for the challenge and was suitably impressed by the S22 Ultra’s capability.

“Normally, you would not think that those two could compare, but you’d be surprised when using this device. It has the exact same features that you would need to shoot these exact same images and the megapixels are just as high, so the quality is the exact same as you would get out of a DSLR,” shares the expert.

Samsung’s standout flagship phone offers the best of both worlds, combining the power of the Note series and the performance of the S series in one premium device.

In addition to capturing every single moment on its top of the range camera, you can take notes with a super-smooth S Pen that flows as fast as your thoughts, and power up quickly with a battery that records over 50 minutes of video after a 10-minute charge. It has the company’s brightest and most brilliant display yet and is made for the golden age of content, giving movies and shows the screen they deserve.

Glamour Magazine Editor-In-Chief, Nontando Mposo, was behind the scenes making sure the visuals were high-end and on par with the needs of a glossy magazine, and was excited to share all about the triple-threat lineup.

“We are shooting Glamour’s June cover – which is our Disruptors issue. We have Linda, Nabilah Kariem and Kay Ngonyama who are three creatives that are doing amazing [things] in their spaces.”

As for the fashion, she explains, “We wanted to go for something that represents each and every one of them. The fashion is very vibrant and we’re featuring a lot of local designers, because we celebrate local designers all the time.”

What Linda puts on the gram, whether serious or fun, it’s all part of her broader belief that by inspiring or uplifting one woman, you raise a community – in this case, with a message to be a little brave.

We caught up with Linda away from the fashion and glam and witnessed her bravely tackling the challenge we threw her way at CityROCK Johannesburg, Indoor Climbing Gym.

The influencer is all about learning and trying new things, so despite some nerves, she seized the opportunity to summit the wall. Likening gym assistant, Jeffrey Mochumi’s advice to “always look up and never down” to how she likes to go through life.

As a certified teacher, Linda is used to creating lessons from her experience.

“Lockdown impacted me as a content creator in the sense that we had to think outside the box. The box being our surroundings, the box being our homes. I think it pushed us to be a bit more authentic.”

She adds, “To show our true selves is honestly what I strive for all the time, which is to always express myself as myself. And it made you think out of the box. What can you do at home, how much content can you create in the house, and my phone really came in handy.”

“This Galaxy S22 Ultra is a life accessory, because you need it everyday, you need it for everything. Be it to play music on your phone, be it to record the moments that you want to, be it to shoot your professional videos, which is sometimes what I need to do and then submit the content by myself because – with Covid right now we can’t go for auditions so I use it to submit my tapes as well. So when I say to you that it’s the ultimate camera and phone all in one – it’s just that – incredible.”

The day spent with Linda was a good one! Bold, fun, hard-working, entertaining, caring, inspiring and ever fresh in her approach – the greatest takeaway from following this superwoman is to get busy living!
