MOONCHILD SANELLY IS HER OWN, ORIGINAL FLAVOUR WHICH THE WORLD HAS A TASTE FOR
Featuring on Beyoncé’s The Lion King: The Gift album, Moonchild Sanelly gives the world an unforgettable taste of African music and design.
The bold and energetic Moonchild Sanelly, known for her signature blue hair and her self-created genre of “Future ghetto funk” music, has an audience that extends beyond South Africa’s borders.
She has played at festivals in America, Japan, and Spain, to name a few, and has collaborated with artists like Beyoncé, Wizkid, Gorillaz and Diplo. Still have doubts about her global appeal? Then her featuring on the FIFA 22 World Cup soundtrack will have you seeing otherwise.
“I know everything is possible. I’m not really surprised by the things that I do. I write them down and I’m ready for them. I wrote Beyonce down as my ultimate in music and I got to work with her in the beginning of my global domination,” says Moonchild Sanelly.
She expresses herself freely with her riveting stage performances and has always been clear about what she wants.
“I’ve always believed in myself. When asked, what would you tell your younger self? I’d tell my younger self you were right, you can do it all! I’m a fighter. I believe in myself, I’m a worker. I am magic.”
She adds, “Nothing stops me. No one stops me. If you don’t give me the opportunity, I’ll Google how to bomb the doors of opportunity open and I’ll get in period.”
In the driving seat as a business woman, designer, musician and single mother, the one place she’s not behind the wheel is on the road. That doesn’t however, mean she doesn’t like driving or have a passion for speed so we spent the morning with fiancée and long-time partner, Gontse More, and her spinning around the go karting track as well as the roller skating rink.
With endlessly creativity, a hard working ethic and success in whatever she turns her talents to – Moonchild Sanelly just may be our most original, proudly African flavour.
