JOURNEY TO THE UNEXPECTED ALONG ROUTE 62 WITH CAPITEC’S SCAN TO PAY

Take a road trip down route 62 to discover a world where everything is a pumpkin and the natural spa waters bubble up at a glorious forty six degrees!

The last two years have seen us all focusing inwards so we think it’s about time to get outside – not only one’s Headquarters or home-office, but out on the open road. Leading that charge for us was Capitec colleagues and marketing trio Jordan Dunn, Phumzile Andries and Esona Ndongeni who seized the opportunity to build their bonds and explore Route 62.

The touristy drive stretches from the Breede River Valley up to Port Elizabeth and is the scenic alternative to the N2 highway. Along the road you pass loads of hidden gems like The Pampoen Padstal which you’ll come across along the route.

It’s a quaint, 40-year-old farm stall that’s just outside Worcester – and every shade and shape of Halloween, three hundred and sixty five days a year. The stall boasts an array of goods, from gifts to preserves, fresh farm produce, toys and sweet treats. It’s home to an incredible selection of different kinds of pumpkins – many that we’ve never even seen before.

It’s here that the colleagues first note the convenience and ease of using Capitec’s Scan to Pay payment method.

“Capitec makes it so simple when you’re road tripping. If I forget my wallet behind or in the car I can simply use my phone and scan to pay,” comments Esona Ndongeni.

After paying for their purchases, we one again returned to Route 62 and adventured further through Robertson’s wine route and on to one of the prettiest, oldest towns you can drive right through – Montagu. A town known far and wide for the local hot water springs that people have enjoyed over the last hundred years.

There we meet Gavin Hatherley who runs Avalon Springs Resort. A destination that’s popular for day trips, family getaways, amazing hot water facilities and their kids entertainment.

The colleagues were in seventh heaven as they stopped after a two hour drive, relaxed with an exotic looking mocktail and enjoyed the therapeutic hot waters of the spring and leisure activities on offer at the resort.

We think it was just what they needed to re-invigorate their spirits for the year ahead, and as easy as taking a selfie, they settled the bill with the help of Capitec’s super easy Scan to Pay.

Demonstrating yet again, how South Africa’s biggest digital company puts innovation at the forefront to enable clients to live better while living their best lives exploring the great vistas and unique experiences on offer on the great open road.
