SABC3’S NEW PREMIUM DRAMA ‘THE ESTATE’ PROBES THE HOT ISSUES IN SOUTH AFRICA

SABC3’s exciting new telenovela ‘The Estate’ delves into the mysteries, deceit and secret desires locked behind a gated community, while exploring issues of corruption, power, class and more in South Africa.

Set to be a game changing daily drama, The Estate is an exciting new local show taking to our screens on SABC3 on 5 April 2021.

The premium drama probes the hot issues in South African: land and identity, corruption, patronage, money (old and new), power, class and equality, and is all told through a colourful mix of South African families that fight for their space in these topical debates.

The show centres around a private estate called Echelon and the lives of all the people who live and work there – the diverse cross-section of families that live within the walls that line beautiful homes, landscaped parks and a golf course, and the working class who are labouring visitors in this ‘wonderland’.

Meanwhile, trouble brews outside the iron gates of suburbia as growing pressure around a land claim concerning The Estate from the neighbouring Thembalethu township community intensifies. The ever-present threat of ‘the peasants storming the castle’ looms over the privileged Estate residents, while long buried secrets are about to be unearthed as the terrible Faustian deal between two men is revealed.

“The Estate forms part of an exciting chapter for SABC 3 where the channel is repositioning to reflect a modern, complex and thoughtful South Africa. We will announce these exciting developments. For now, it’s all about The Estate.” shares Pat van Heerden, the Channel Head SABC 3 Bouquet.

“The Estate stands out because it’s telling a story that is so close to home, that is so close to the bone, that people will actually love it,” comments Clementine Mosimane who’ll be playing Mmatshepo Mokobane.

The production boasts great sets and top locations, amazing performances, crisp, authentic and on-trend looks, and incredible technical work (cinematography, lighting, and production design).

The Estate will combine aspiration; glitz and glamour infused with the reality of the modern-day every South African. Audiences will see themselves, who they wish to be and who they pray they never become.

With drama, intrigue and love triangles, The Estate is set to become a Mzansi favourite so make sure to keep an eye out for this new show on SABC3 Monday to Friday at 7:00 pm. It’s sure to have the country talking!
