EXPLORE KZN ADVENTURES WITH KAMO MPHELA

Kamo Mphela’s uniquely crafted dance moves, amapiano beats and steady flow have seen her rocking fans from Africa to the U.K. So, a weekend time-out with friend Maps Ralephenya was a welcome breather.

Growing up, Kamo always knew that she wanted to be in the entertainment industry. She started dancing at a young age after accompanying her father to events where she was given the opportunity to perform on stage.

“I was mainly interested in the entertainment industry because of my dad, he used to be a part of a big radio station at the time and I really learned a lot,” she says.

Through the events, she gained exposure however, Kamo only blew up in 2018 after she started posting dance videos on her social media channels. Although initially she wanted to pursue a career in radio, Kamo decided to focus on dancing.

As a result of her dancing skills, she was dubbed the Queen of Amapiano and in 2019, she was signed to Major League Music and soon released her first, Twentee.

With the hustle and bustle of the entertainment industry, Kamo decided to take a well-deserving weekend away in KwaZulu Natal with friend and stylist, Maps Ralephenya.

The first stop on their list of adventures is Adventure Valley. Nestled in a valley along the Sampoya river is Adventure Valley. With an abundance of bird life, and tranquil forest surrounding, Adventure Valley is the ideal location for nature and adventure lovers alike.

Adventure Valley’s 1,5km zipline tour is the most popular attraction on offer. The tour spans across the valley and meanders through the lush forest. Sliding along zipline cables and enjoying small walking trails that form part of the tour, make this adventure a memorable one.

The next stop of things to do in Durban is Ballito Ski Park. Ballito Ski Park offers a variety of experiences for the entire family. Activities available are wakeboarding, viking, water skiing, wake surfing, wake skating, kneeboarding, airsoft and paintball.

Kamo has overcome her own obstacles with the belief that hard work pays off and that you must practice what you preach.

While enjoying the best that her success offers, this homegrown star wants her influence on young fans and creatives to be her legacy. And what advice does she have for upcoming creatives?

“Focus on yourself, don’t let anybody limit you in terms of what you believe in and what you want to do.”

Look out for the release of Kamo’s latest, one of a kind single ‘Ghost’, dropping anytime now.
