BUILDING ELLIOT'S DREAM HOME & GARDEN WITH CAPITEC

Family man, Elliot Ntantiso builds his dream home and garden with the help of Capitec’s Access Facility, empowering him to achieve his goals in a comfortable and affordable process with credit that he controls.

The Insider SA met with Elliot Ntantiso, a father from Soweto who has been working on a home improvement project. They say that the home is the starting place of love, hope, and dreams. This rings true for Elliot who has finally reached the completion stage of his family’s dream home, made possible thanks to Capitec.

To finish off the house and bring the property to life, Elliot brought in the team from Urbanic Landscaping, headed by Lucas Steyn, to create a garden that brings a sense of warmth and greenery to the space.

Since Elliot’s home is West-facing, Lucas noticed that the home would experience beautiful, morning sunlight. To complement this, he planted an indigenous garden to bring a pop of colour to the entrance of the home.

Lucas planted a river bushwillow, white agapanthuses, and silver lace garlic plants which blooms purple flowers and acts as a natural insecticide.

On the other side of the home, Lucas also planted a plum tree and established a vegetable garden so that Elliot and his family could be self-sustainable and use their produce in their meals. While plums trees are hardy and produce an abundance of fruit; the planted spinach, tomatoes, chillies, green peppers, eggplants, and chives will thrive given the proper care.

Lucas shares his top tip for keeping up a healthy garden. “The best time to water your vegetables is early in the morning since it’s still cool and you don’t waste a lot of water. Then the plants are nice and wet to grow when the sun shines on them.”

He also adds, “When the vegetables are still seedlings, they’re all quite small and need quite a lot of care in the beginning. So within the first week or two, you have to make sure they don’t dry out.”

With the beautifully landscaped garden complete, Elliot has realised his dream of building a space his family can call home.
