Nature shows off in fresh, floral crowns by designer Mabel Maposa in celebration of Garden Day.
Amongst the most popular pastimes that people have taken up since lockdown began has been gardening.
Meet this year’s ambassador for Garden Day, Mabel Maposa. Her love of flowers saw her trade an accountancy degree to start a floral design business. She’s now the floral designer and founder of Mabel M Florals, and proud advocate of sustainable floristry (#NoFloralFoam) in Africa and abroad.
Mabel shares that, “I recall as a five year old, playing with marigold flowers – my mother had plenty in her garden,”. This is undoubtedly where her passion for organic & fine art romantic floristry stems from.
She shares her tips for a floral arrangement before explaining more about Garden Day.
It is an initiative that inspires you to reap the rewards of your time planting, watering and weeding throughout the year. No matter how big or small your garden is – whether you have rolling lawns or simple window box displays – Garden Day is set to encourage you to celebrate your efforts, be it by hosting a plant swop, creating flower crowns, organising a garden scavenger hunt or having friends over for a garden party.
