LORNA BAILEY DRESSES FURNITURE LIKE A FASHION DESIGNER

Meet Lorna Bailey, the textiles business owner who gets her fabrics on the gram by dressing furniture like a fashion designer.

To excite her client’s imagination Lorna Bailey put her design hat on, collaborated with fashion designer Johan Botha and furniture manufacturers Sofa Central, got social and shook up the furniture trade.

“My passion for fabric started in the clothing industry – clothing and textile design is what I studied formally. At which time the crossover and correlation of clothing, design and interior just became very clear to me. How we wear a scarf, shirt and jacket, and how we coordinate ourselves is exactly what we do in interiors,” says Lorna.

That coordination is exactly what goes into planning patterns and dressing furniture for Lorna and her team.  With an authentic touch to every detail, The Mill Fabrics now brings fashion to furniture with their upholstery fabric.

“Our new ‘Fashion for Furnishings’ campaign started with the idea that we were dressing the furniture and fashion. And we somehow had to take that to the media – media being decor, magazines, Instagram, Facebook, all of those platforms that we use to get our work out there,” adds Lorna.

The range consists of a range of fabrics that are tastefully and skillfully used to create designer dresses that compliment the furniture that have been upholstered with a matching print.
