Runway and Comprehensive Coach, Mervin Marvey, signs up to Capitec to further the growth of his young stars.
When Mervyn Marvey returned home to South Africa from an award-winning stage career in the US, it was to deal with a sudden family loss. But he turned a very sad time into a bright future for many young South Africans when he chose to pioneer a new career for himself as a runway and entertainment coach. His mission was to equip those embarking on a career in the entertainment and beauty industry with the necessary skills to survive and thrive which means as much time as possible focused on the art of performing. Mervyn’s office is the stage, and he coaches a huge cross-section of skills.
Like many of his clients, from model Rhulani Mathevula to Miss SA 2023 Top 8 Finalist, Keaoleboga Nkashe, and viral sensation 7-year-old, Azania Sweeney, the marvellous Mr Marvey has made the journey from being born in a smalltown like Rustenburg to seeking fame through show business.

Marvin’s especially proud of helping young model Azania Sweeney to prepare for an international charity kids fashion show, whereafter she got 20 million views on Instagram. In the one year she has trained with Coach Merv, they have seen her confidence grow exponentially. With the explosion of her popularity online, a big part of Coach Merv’s work along with her family, is to protect the young star from the dangers and pressures of an industry that can often be very tough on those involved. Afterall, despite the world noticing quickly that Azania had a very real appeal and X-factor, she is only 7 years old and protecting that innocence is an important task for her team. Azania has the smarts for any career, but as long as she’s enjoying this, Mervyn wants her to have some memories to mark the journey.
As a pioneer in this industry in South Africa, Coach Merv, admires a similar pioneering spirit in his new bank Capitec. Capitec allows him to simplify his banking and pursue his own quest to Live Better with a variety of great functions and applications available.
Being able to sign up for a bank account from anywhere in South Africa was a massive win from the banking industry pioneers and making immediate payments through PayShap is a feature Coach Merv will make great use of considering the low fees and convenience involved.
